I've been on sabbatical leave from my university for the last eight months, and it's been an incredibly busy and fruitful time... I've been very slow to update this section of my website, but I do have a mailing list -- so if you don't subscribe to my newsletter, please add your name to it from the menu above.
My sabbatical will be wrapping up with something very exciting- my portrait of Chase from "I Love You, Man" will be included in the "Double Portraits" show at the San Diego Museum of Art. I am utterly humbled by the company I am in! I never thought one of my photos would ever be hanging across from Giotto and Fra Angelico... but it will soon be hung in that empty corner spot of the Italian Renaissance gallery. Across in the opposite corner will be a great portrait (lower right photo) by Jess T. Dugan, who I am also very excited to be showing with.
"Double Portraits" is a show of "interventions" in the museum's permanent collection. Five contemporary photographers, all working in portraiture, have been chosen to serve as a tie-in to the Arnold Newman "Masterclass" exhibit that is currently on view. The show opens on August 1 as part of the museum's "Summer Break" series, and I'll also be giving a lecture at the museum on Wednesday August 7th at 7pm-- please come out if you are in San Diego!
